Why do hip dips happen?
Hip dips are inward curves between the upper hip and thigh area. They are a normal variation in body shape and are strongly influenced by pelvic and femur structure, muscle distribution and the way body fat is naturally stored.
Having more or less visible hip dips does not automatically indicate a problem with your health, fitness or weight.
What can you do about the appearance?
- Hip dips cannot always be completely removed because bone structure plays an important role.
- Strength training focused on the glutes and surrounding hip muscles may change the overall muscle shape and appearance over time.
- Changes in body weight can alter soft-tissue distribution, but weight loss or gain cannot specifically target hip dips.
- Avoid comparing your natural hip shape with edited, posed or highly filtered images online.
