Your BMI Result

Your BMI is a general screening value based on your height and weight. It should be interpreted in context rather than used as a complete measure of health.

How should you understand this result?

For most adults, BMI is commonly grouped into underweight, healthy-weight, overweight and obesity categories. These categories are useful for screening, but BMI does not distinguish between muscle, fat, bone or differences in body composition.

A BMI result should therefore not be treated as a diagnosis or as a judgment about your appearance.

BMI categories can also be interpreted differently for children, teenagers, pregnancy and some athletic or medical situations. This calculator is intended for general adult use.
